Hello! Thank you for looking here. Nova: Synthesis Creaturum is an upcoming free fantasy visual novel for teens and up. The team here is very excited to present it when it is released. I'll update this post as more information comes out.

What is a visual novel?

A visual novel is an interactive story told through images. The choices you make affect the events and outcome of the story, similar to a "choose your own adventure" type of story. Visual novels are usually geared for romance and developing a romantic relationship with another character, but they do not have to have romance as the main focus of the VN.

Though these are our official positions, we do more than what department we’re under! We currently have someone doing an original soundtrack for us as well, but more information on that is yet to be revealed.

Synopsis:

For years now, monsters have been a growing problem in Diolacov Kingdom. Their origin and behavior are a mystery, and a solution to control them has yet to be found. One day in the forest, novice magic student Merona encounters a monster while collecting plant life for study. At a crucial moment, she somehow manages to save herself by turning the monster into an innocent animal! How did she do that? What did she do? Merona is then sent on a journey by her academy with a team of companions to travel over various towns to discover more about monsters and how she can transform them. What lies ahead is much more than what everyone had expected...

"Nova: Synthesis Creaturum" is Latin. Nova alone is the feminine noun for “new”. Synthesis Creaturum means “the synthesis of creations”.

The novel’s original language will be in English, but a German and Portuguese version will come after the English release.

:bademoticon: Is this novel free?

This is a non-commercial project, so yes, it is free. You do not need to pay any fees for this visual novel. There will be extra scenes and scenarios that we will offer for a small price, but those do not affect the main story line, and will only be side stories.

Hopefully, this project will take no more than 6 months. Of course, there are chances that we will finish earlier or later than the expected date, but as of now, it should come out around June/July of 2014.

The novel will be about 30,000-40,000 words long. The amount of time spent playing depends on how fast you are at reading.

The genres are a blend of fantasy, comedy, drama, action, and romance.

The novel has an ESRB rating of T. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

It’s currently in development, therefore it’s not available. It’s optimized for Google Chrome and doesn’t work in Internet Explorer. Please try switching browsers if the site is not functioning or appears out of position.

The novel can be played on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It is also playable on Android devices, but some features may not be able to appear.
